Welcome to this course, which introduces the Data Management Capstone Project. In the competitive financial services industry, banks face increasing pressure to leverage data effectively for strategic decision-making, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency. FinPro Bank, a mid-sized financial institution, serves a diverse customer base and offers a range of financial products, including savings accounts, loans, and credit cards. However, the bank has struggled with siloed data across departments, limiting its ability to make timely, data-driven decisions, identify emerging customer needs, and detect potential fraud. This case study explores how FinPro Bank can use an end-to-end data management pipeline to overcome these challenges. Central to this process is the role of the data manager, who will oversee, coordinate, and implement data analysis, transformation, security, governance, and business intelligence to ensure that data drives value across all business units. This course is designed for those looking to upskill or start a new career in data management. In this capstone project, you will perform various assignments to guide you through the project. You will start with data cleaning and transformation using Excel. Then, you will visualize the data in various charts using Excel. Later, you will migrate clean and structured data from Excel to a relational database for more advanced queries and analysis. You will conduct SQL queries to test the setup, such as aggregating transaction totals by customer or detecting high-value transactions. Then, you will design and implement a data warehouse for FinPro Bank to centralize data and support business intelligence operations. You will analyze the data warehouse using SQL. In addition, you will ensure data privacy, security, governance, and compliance in the data pipeline. Finally, you will use Tableau to deliver actionable insights and dashboards for FinPro Bank's management. Through instructional videos and hands-on labs, you will transform raw financial data into actionable insights using the entire data pipeline, from preparation to business intelligence. The course includes graded quizzes and checklists to assess your understanding and guide you through the project. You will be submitting your final project at the end of the course. The final module provides guidance on the job search, creating your portfolio and resume, and preparing for interviews. Each module of this capstone project comprises assignments in the form of labs. You will start with data cleaning and transformation using Excel and then data visualization using Excel. In the next lab, you will set up data using a relational database and use SQL queries to test the data on this relational database. Next, you will design and set up a data warehouse and perform SQL queries using rollups, cubes, and view. In the next assignment, you will go through some recommendations on integration, governance, and compliance. Then you will implement data privacy, security, encryption, and role-based access using MySQL. In the next lab, you will use Tableau for business intelligence and prepare dashboards for further analysis. You will submit the final project at the end of the course. Before starting this course, you should have completed all the courses in the IBM Data Management Professional Certificate.
